Exploring Childhood Memories

Today's adventure was not exactly what I was expecting. I did make it safely there and back but I'll comment on the photos to tell the story.
The obligatory pic at the Elk marking Strathcona Park.
Views of Upper Campbell Lake from the Elk carving statue thing.
Another view of Upper Campbell Lake.
Pretty much the same as one above.
The sign board at Lady Falls.
Nice path and if I could make with my sorry ass, as Jon can attest to, any of you can do it to.
View from the Lady Falls path.
Stairs along the Lady Falls path.
Rough carved bench to rest on if needed. I toughed it out and kept going.
I guess this is the ornate carved rest bench but I kept going.
Coming up on the observation deck for Lady Falls.
Lady Falls.
The bottom of Lady Falls.
Lady Falls video.
When I got back to the parking lot at Lady Falls I was greeted by 2 young ladies requesting help. I told them that I was old and out of shape so I would teach them how to change a tire. They were actually rather excited about learning this useful skill. Pulling the bike up behind their care and putting on my hazards, I let them learn.
In the distance on the right of roughly that turn is the parking lot for Lady Falls.
Millennials learning a skill. I laugh at this but they were really quite nice about this not afraid to dive in. A couple of the more energetic millennials no doubt
Once they got the space saver tire on, I gave them instructions on how to take it easy into Gold River while following them to make sure they were safe. I would toddle about for a bit and as I was leaving Gold River I stopped for gas and asked where someone would get a tire around here. Nowhere. A fun and spirited ride back to Campbell River but didn't catch up to them. Went into town a bit then decided to turn around. Then saw them and stopped to talk. They are good and once new tires are on their car they are headed back to Victoria.
Anyway, traveling down to the government docks that are beyond Gold River.
Same spot but looking out towards Muchalat Inlet.
Same spot again looking at the old mill site. Met a couple from Trail who were wonder about "the ferry" that seemed marked on the map that was supposed to leave from here. Explained that it was the MV Uchuck III and it is a WWII minesweeper that runs as a service vehicle for West Coast remote communities. There are a few such ships on the West Coast.
They apparently saw me on the side of the road with the millennials.
Hope you enjoyed this recap. it was fun and maybe next time I'll make it down to Myra Falls.
